About

I think in systems and work in images, sometimes for the same brief. That's the short version — the longer one goes like this.

Two practices, on purpose

If I had a nickel for every skill set I've developed, I'd have two nickels. One pays for strategy work — research, workshops, visualization, foresight — mostly for food, beverage, and retail companies. The other pays for branding, editorial, and art direction — mostly for independents, restaurants, and small institutions.

Two nickels isn't a lot, but it's strange that it happened twice. After years of trying to choose between them, I've stopped: the cross-pollination is the work.

How I got here

Communication Design at Politecnico di Milano, with detours through Köln International School of Design (integrated design) and Aalto in Helsinki (collaborative and textile design). Then a master's in Product-Service System Design, back at Politecnico.

From there: a year as a service designer at Carrefour's innovation department in Paris, a year as a visual designer at the Berlin tech agency Boana, and from 2018 in Bologna — splitting my time between leading strategy projects at VRD Research (Barilla, Credem, Alpitour, Lavazza) and taking on freelance brand and editorial commissions in parallel. Since 2024 the two have folded into one freelance practice.

What I help with

For companies and institutions: qualitative research, workshop moderation, scenario building, data visualization. The longer version lives in Strategy.

For independents and brands: visual identity, editorial design, art direction. The longer version lives in Art direction.

And on the side: self-initiated projects — usually where a new skill or material gets its first test run.
